When Harum ‘Sundal Malam’ is mentioned, unprompted will be recalled in our mind of a movie directed by Suhaimi Baba and the scarcely audible song that sung by Cek Mek Klate Samihah Omar (Misha). Actually Sundal Malam is a kind of crop that was planted in villages as an ornamental plant in Malaysia. Nama Mat Sallehnya ialah Tuberose “fragrant of tuberose”

The uniqueness of this plant is, kebanyakan bunga yang berbau wangi will lose or lesser his scent after quoted from tangkainya, but Harum ‘Sundal Malam’ own a different character although after being quoted, the flower will still continue produce scent permanent until it dry and wilt.

In India Harum Sundal Malam is used as interest to raise romantic mood especially to newly-wed. That is why in India anak-anak gadis which are not married yet, strictly prohibited daripada mencium the fragrance of Sundal Malam nocturnally because worried this will stimulate their sexual activity. This plant is also known as ‘mistress of the night’.

harum 'Sundal Malam' was planted a lot in Mexico, Hawaii, and America secara komersial and the essential oil from this flower so expensive where the price can reach until dalam rm300 dengan isi kandungan 5ml sahaja. This essential oil is use for recovery emotion and cause heart still and feeling
